Deep Prenatal Prep & Postpartum Support

Uncharted 2

Uncharted:
Anchoring yourself in the wild terrain of birth

Long story short:
Uncharted is a new kind of prenatal support;
we’re all about helping you find your compass for birth, in community

🔑 Your Gold at the End of this Rainbow🌈

  • Realistic Readiness: you will feel grounded in the reality of giving birth (instead of feeling shocked, terrified, or numb when that day comes)

  • Staying Centered: you will be practiced at staying centered (rather than getting trapped in black-and-white thinking about birth—which sometimes looks like: ‘it can only either be horrible or blissful’, you should only want/use certain kinds of comfort measures or pain management; or that there are “right” and “wrong” ways to give birth)

  • Real Self Trust: you will know how to set up smart support for you, based on your personal values, communication style, and experiences. (And we are not about denying fear or doubt that may come up as we go here—we can learn from, and make solid plans, out of all of it)

  • A Customized, Practical Support Plan: we’ll tie everything we discover together and you’ll complete the process with a clear, unique-to-you blueprint outlining the best support (people, preferences, coping skills & comfort measures, creature comforts, boundaries and absolute no-gos, etc.) for you

🚀 How We Get There 🛠

  1. Uncover & Shift Old Stories
Whether you’ve given birth before or not, we’re all swimming in ideas, beliefs, and stories about birthing—we’ll take a look and decide what you actually want to keep: this is where we dig deep into family & cultural stories, messages, traditions, rituals, customs, judgments, and histories re: pregnancy, birthing, parenting, etc.

  2. Get Clear on Your Patterns
We’ll work with (not against) your organic responses to uncertainty, pain, discomfort, surrender, etc. and use self awareness tools to prepare in whatever ways best serve you: this is the 'Know Thyself’ part of our work—we’ll jam out with personality assessments, journaling & creative exercises, and more to really tune into who you are (pssst these first two pieces are how we start putting together your personalized coping & support puzzle—that comes next!)

  3. Practice Coping Strategies
You’ll identify coping practices that help you feel safe, confident, and capable in the unknown rhythm of birthing so that labor doesn’t have to feel like your first rodeo: this is where we’ll explore and try on coping strategies that ground and comfort you (and begin to let go of whatever doesn’t). You might discover you’re all about mediation & affirmations, or images & music, or doing the “ice cube challenge” with your birth partner over and over—it’s all good! This part of our process is about accepting & amplifying what works for you, and finding/bringing your own meaning to the process of giving birth.

  4. Map Out Smart, Specific Support
We’ll pull all of this together to create a unique-to-you Support Plan that you can count on (rather than a ‘Birth Plan’, because we don’t really get to plan that part): this is where the rubber meets the road, if you will—based on all the beautiful/hard work we will have done by then, we (you) will create a specific, deep, rich Support Plan for your unique labor & birth; one that will help you feel present, capable, and held in the wild (luminous, humongous, singular & universal) initiation of birthing.

Wait—Who Are You?🤔
And, Why Are You Offering This?🔮

Yes, good question!
I’m Amelia: Certified Coach, Drama Therapist, and Mom to two powerhouse daughters. I’m also a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, Birth Story Medicine Practitioner, and Clinical Wellness Team Lead at the Village Postnatal Retreat Center in San Francisco.
This coaching program was born (we love a pun around here!) out of my deep desire to help pregnant people focus on preparing for birth instead of planning their birth.

Traditional birth planning is too often confused with deciding how the birth “should” go (largely out of our control imho), whereas the deeper preparation work is about deciding what information, circumstances, and support each of us need in order to show up as clearly, bravely, and compassionately as we can for whatever the journey turns out to be.

🙋🏽‍♀️Is Uncharted a Good Fit?🎯

This group is probably for you if:

  • You dig reflection & self discovery

  • You believe that self care & self awareness are integral to your own (and your family’s) wellbeing

  • You’re curious about exploring the deeper meaning of birth, and what that might open up for you/your family

  • You’re a little sick of regular childbirth education; which often prioritizes facts & figures over people’s lived experiences

  • You’re currently pregnant, and hungry for deep, grounded preparation for birth ⬅ Note: this work is usually most relevant during the second and third trimesters of your pregnancy, but if you feel called to the group earlier in your pregnancy please reach out!

This group is probably not for you if:

  • You’re not into digging deep

  • You don’t see much of a connection between self reflection and your pregnancy/birth journey

  • You want me (or someone) to tell you what’s right/wrong, etc. in terms of your own pregnancy, birth, and/or parenting choices

  • You’d prefer to just get this whole birth thing over with and keep it moving

  • You’re not currently pregnant

PS: you’ll receive a short form once you register, and if for any reason we’re not sure if Uncharted is the right group for you right now, we’ll reach out to you about that (definitely within a few days!) and obviously refund any payments made if it’s not a great fit—so please don’t worry about that piece; we got you!
